The Texas energy crisis and Eureka!

What happened? Extremely cold weather hampered gas & electricity supply, affecting 4 M customers. It was worse than the crisis in California (last hot summer). For this blog on Energy Managers, a lesson is that more of them will bring concrete solutions on enterprise level, which together will save a state or country. For example? Gas and electricity are both on momentary supply, i.e. difficult to store on mega-level. However, California (hot) and Texas (cold) both had a thermal problem and storage in enterprises is cheaper (ice, hot water), certainly for a couple of hours. A short period might be enough to relax the momentary demand. And in more regular times, such storage can save money by exploiting dynamic tariffs. So: two advantages for the enterprise: savings and security of supply. Delegate it to your Energy Manager!
